London Rises in Homicide Rates

         On April 5, 2018 an other teen lost their lives on the streets of London. Israel Ogunsola, only 18 years old, was stabbed to death. This tragic lost of life became London`s 53rd murder victim of 2018  London is on the rise of homicides mostly involving teens and people in their 20`s. London has been experiencing a spike of deadly violence that involves gangs and young people being at the wrong place and the wrong time. Most of the victims were stabbed to death due to the fact that the gun restriction is very strict in the UK. In 2017 London had 130 murders and it was never that high since the 2000`s. London was also compared to New York`s homicide in 2017, which was 290 murders. Some of the reasons that this spike of homicides is occurring could be the budget that the British government had put on the police forces, cutting funds by more that 20 percent. There were also funds cut from local councils that run many social services. This made many youth clubs, libraries and programs for young people shut down. There are also fingers pointed on the police and social media.

         On February 13, Chicago Police Commander, Paul Bauer, responded to a call on a fleeing suspect and was shot six times in the head, neck, torso, back, and wrist. Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. officers patrolling  Lower Wacker Drive spotted the suspect, Shomari Legghette and approached him, which ended in him running away. Don’t hold back.    One Scene that got to me was when peter and his crew were explaining how the FBI came to black hills to take sue away. When they were describing everything detail you can see the sadness that these paleontologists experienced while the government was packing Sue up to take her away. This scene made me feel sad for them because it was such a big discovery and they put all their work into getting Sue in their museum just to be stripped away from them.          2.   What surprised you?
